History
Palm Harbor Natural Foods has been in business for over 20 years. The original location and owners are unknown, however the store was purchased by Thomas and Lisa Hodges in 1996. The Hodges, along with their son Chris, expanded the store from its original 2,300 square-foot location and moved it to its current 13,500 square-foot building to include a sit-down café.
The Natural Retail Group (NRG) purchased Palm Harbor Natural Foods from the Hodges in March 2001. Nrg immediately expanded the kitchen to provide a larger café selection and offered three times more produce as well as other health food items unavailable under the previous ownership.
Today NRG continues to operate Palm Harbor Natural Foods as a neighborhood grocery store, carrying on the same legacy that the Hodges worked so hard to build.
