History

Nature's Finest Foods has been in business for well over twenty years. It was originally owned by Glenn Pratten who first began selling diet supplements from a garage at his fathers Chiropractic business in 1971. This business evolved into a 5,000 square-foot health food store located in South Pasedena, Florida.

Pratten figured that if he didn't jump on the natural foods bandwagon, someone else would, so in 1994 at the age of 53, he tripled the size of Nature's Finest by moving his store to its current location on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg, FL. Despite his fear of bankruptcy (if the new store did not net a profit within four months of operation), he managed to turn Nature's into a friendly neighborhood grocery store by supplying the local community with healthy alternatives unavailable at other grocery retailers in the area.

In September 1998 the Natural Retail Group (NRG) purchased Nature's Finest Foods from Mr. Pratten. Soon after, NRG began renovating the 15,000 square-foot store with new shelving, adding sushi and bakery departments, smoothie bar, salad bar, fresh meat and seafood, deli with takeout and a large café for in-store eating.

Today, Nature's Finest Foods continues to fulfill the revolutionary needs of the St. Petersburg community who insist on eating and living a healthy lifestyle.
